Hmmm...
I'm debating on whether a phone call to The Teenager's school is necessary...
He's taking a systomatics class(weightlifting) this year and has a 100% average in there. Well, the semester final is being able to bench press your own weight. If you are able to do this you will earn a "C" for the class. The Teenager has gained some weight this year and started to fill out a bit. He's 6'3" and weighs 193 pounds. He's only benching 160 at this point and with only 3 weeks to go has decided that he needs to lose weight! (As anyone who knows him can see, he CLEARLY does not need to lose any weight. The kid is freakin' tall and skinny!) So, he's stopped eating. Clearly, not a good thing. He's not even going to be able to lift the 160. I guess my question is, is this a reasonable expectation from the teacher of this class? Is it fair to be graded on it and to only be able to get a "C" if you have had an "A" all year? And what about my child's safety? How can they possibly do this???

Well, I'm no P.E. teacher, but it sounds pretty bogus to me. I don't think that is a fair measure. It seems to me he should be graded on his progress and his work ethic versus how much weight he can bench press. That sounds like it's sending the wrong message, especially if he thinks he needs to lose weight and has stopped eating. I totally think you should call that teacher and have a "nice" little talk with him (or her - let's not be sexist here...lol)!
I agree with Karin, I would call the teacher.
I'd be on the phone...
I would call the school. This is stupid. They are supposed to grade him in systos on wheather or not he's improved over the year. He has no weight to loose! He's be all bones. If they don't fix it, I'll go yell at someone for you.
(i know because my friends took systos at DVHS and that's how they graded)
Well, he really wasn't complaining. He's very worried. And he hasn't mentioned it to anyone but me, his mom, the person he's supposed to talk to.
