Happy New Year!!
We've had a lovely Christmas and New Year's celebration. We still have today and tomorrow off and then back to the grind, but with new perspective after a long family holiday.
The BEST thing that happened for us on New Years? The Teenager was, of course, out with friends last night. (At someone's house, not on the streets!) I have a hard time letting go, but have given him a lot of freedom, especially on this vacation. I had spoken to him at 10:30 pm and thought that might be it until I pick him up today, but with 10 seconds left in the old year, the phone rang and it was him, calling to count down with us. A midnight he said "Happy New Year, I love you mom" and then spoke to each of the other members of our family to tell them all the same thing. I think we've done the right thing by not keeping too tight of a reign on him. He has the freedom he needs as a teenager, but still knows where his base is. I don't know how many parents of teenagers get a New Year's Eve midnight phone call, but I'm betting it's not a lot.

Good for you! And good for him. :) I know it's hard for you to let go, but you're doing well! (Will you help me through it when it's my turn since you'll have done it four times by then? ;))
wow! I'm happy for you! I don't think i've ever called to count down, and my parent's have done pretty good with those reigns. I just never thought of it. Now i feel like a jerk. Thanks teenager. Make the rest of us look bad -_-
My oldest daughter just turned 15 and I still have the reigns on tight. It is very hard to let go. Maybe this year I can try cutting her a little slack. Happy New Year!! You've got a great son and you're right, not many teenagers would call their mom.
Good for him, I'm not sure I ever called my parnets to count down with them.
