Hmmm...
A comment to my New Year's post got me thinking...When my oldest daughter is 15, will I be as lenient as I am with my son? Gut reaction? No freakin' way!! I think the fact that my son is a 6'3", 200 pound BOY has contributed to the amount of freedom he's been allowed. Because really? Call me naive, but I'm not so worried about my kids getting involved in things they shouldn't get involved in. I'm more worried about someone hurting them and that seems far more likely with my girl who is a twig than it does with the Teenager. I trust my kids. It's the rest of the world that freaks me out...

So true. It's hard to let them out of your sight much less give them freedom. I guess I'll be doing a lot of praying.
I'm not a mom. So it's hard for me to give "advice" because I can say one thing, but it would purely be from the other perspective because that's all i know. So yeah. I'll just keep you guessing ;)
My mom was super strict with me, compared to my younger brother. Funny thing is, he was the one who needed it.
I think that being the oldest or youngest or somewhere in the middle makes a difference as well though. The teenager is the oldest and has always been beyond his years. He does not seem like a 15 year old. He does not act as goofy as some 15 year olds.
I think though what I was trying to say is that I feel more like my girls need to be protected, like people might be more able to take advantage of them or hurt them. I am more fearful of their safety from other people than I am of the teen's. Does this make sense? It's not a matter of a boy needing more supervision than a girl because of maturity, but a matter of my girls being more physically vulnerable than a 6'3" boy.
I'm not sure I'm at a point yet, where I can just let go. It freaks me out, anytime they go anywhere without me.
Even Joey who has been on alot of scouting stuff, I'm nervous everytime he goes, and especially like long drives.
