Silent Treatment or Fight it Out?

I was talking with a friend of mine this evening who said she hasn't really talked to her husband in a week. There's some kind of disagreement simmering and she's not going to be the first to bring it up. Apparently he isn't either. I was shocked because in this house? We fight it out. I can't stand the silent treatment and I can't really give it (except to the teen in the previous post!lol!). Mark wants to get it over with as well...
How does it work in your house?

Can you imagine me being silent? LOL! There are times when I need to go slam the door and shut myself away for awhile so I can cool off, but normally we discuss things in a calm, rational manner...and oh who am I kidding? You've seen us in action, so you know the answer to this question..LOL! (Although, seriously, if the matter is very serious and emotional rather than just bickeringish, we do try to discuss calmly.) I don't believe in going to bed angry. We've only ever done that one time in our marriage and that was because Mike said something that was totally uncalled for. He admitted it later, but it took me a LONG time to cool off from that one.

Pray for us, it's driving me nuts. Since we're not really talking we're not going to bed mad, not really anyway, since we're not talking. But I'm thinking it's not what God really had in mind either.

We start out with the silent treatment, mainly just to cool off, then we slowly start talking about the problem and before we know it we have worked it out and are ok again.

I've actually found that not talking about it for one evening, giving each other the chance to calm down, and then talking about it the next day actually lets us talk about the issue without lots of fighting and yelling. We are able to talk calmly.
