Bad Medicine
My second least favorite big business, behind health insurance companies are pharmaceutical companies. I just spent $60.00 for six, yes six, pills for Mark. He gets severe stress related migraines and just got a prescription for them. Our portion was $60.00. The actual retail value? $120.00. That's $20.00 a pill for those of you playing along at home.
The thing that makes me the angriest is the amount of money these companies spend on marketing. Bribing doctors to prescribe their medicines. My mother works for a doctor and every single day of the week a different pharmaceutical company brings in lunch for the entire office. They gave baseball tickets and other event tickets to the doctors. They've given trips to the doctors. My mom's doctor doesn't accept these things, but other doctors surely do. This is part of why we pay so much for prescription medicines. Outrageous!

Ugh. That's just ridiculous.
Very outragous!
Do the pills at least help Mark?
They help a lot, but he's not going to let me pay $10 a pill since he needs to take more than one or two a week.
Yikes, I'd talk to the phamasit and see whar else he can take that will work just as well. Their not bribed as much as doctor's are.
They should be able to fax a request to the doctor's office for you.
Icky. Just icky.
I did talk to the Pharmacist when I was there. She said all of these types of meds are really expensive and there are no generics.
bummer :(
But I'd be willing to be that those pills only cost 15 cents each to make.
