Cleaning House

Since I've given up my diet soda, I've been thinking about other small changes to make my family healthier. Reading this entry by Very Mom made me question the things I feed my family. There are far too many convenience foods, too many processed foods, not enough whole grains and fresh food. So I'm changing my ways! I've cleaned out the pantry and gotten rid of much of the garbage. I've decided to cook breakfast most morning, which I used to do but got lazy. I'm packing whole foods in lunch boxes. Fresh fruits and veggies at most meals. The kids have grumbled about some things, but are gladly embracing others, so I'm hopeful for lasting change. It's really the least I can do to give my kids a healthier lifestyle.

The hardest thing for me is that Mike cannot eat fresh fruit and does not like most veggies, so it makes it really difficult to try to do healthy. Ugh.

Good for you,
I need some easy meals once in awhile. But mostly I don't like them, chucken nuggets, mac and cheese, hot dogs for the kids. I've started eating cheese toast on those nights, with this yummy whole grain bread I found t Costco.
I could eat this bread all day long, if it wasn't so expensive.
