No more stitches!
FE got his stitches taken out this morning, thank God! He's been able to wash his hair, but not so well in that particular area. There will be some scrubbin' tonight!
On the subject of FE, I made some phone calls today and sometime within the next two weeks he'll be tested by the local school district for giftedness. This district has a highly gifted school as well as pull-out programs in their regular schools. I had been going around and around about having him tested for a while, but Saturday my teacher friend finally convinced me that I might really want to get on the ball with it. He's starting to get in a bit, albeit a small bit, of trouble at school and I really think it's because he's bored out of his mind! Our school, being a charter, just doesn't have the resources for any giftedness programs. I don't know what we'll do after the testing, but it's a good place to start to see if further conversation is even necessary. I wasn't too far behind though as they never test until kids are going into second grade anyway.
The final Mass in hell week happens tonight. Thank goodness. I am wiped out. This may of course also be related to the fact that I was in line at 5:15 this morning for teacher requests. I was number 73! Crazy people. I'm not too worried though since I have connections ;)

5:15 in the morning YUCK! and to be 73 already, what time do you think the crazy people ahead of you got there?
Yeah the stiches are out!
It's good to have him tested then you'll know for sure how smart he is :)
It's really not such a matter of how smart he is, but how differently his brain works. Another teacher friend, who is working on her gifted endorsement, agrees that having him tested is a good idea. She actually said she was surprised that he was the only one I'd ever really thought to have tested, but the older two did fine in school. They didn't need the extra as much as he seems to.
