I Miss Film
I was getting my stuff ready to scrapbook tonight and going through pictures and I decided I really miss film. It was so fun to go back through the pictures we had taken with a film camera and see the ones that are so adorable now because of the imperfections. Expressions that on a digital camera we might have erased. The fun of opening that package of photos and seeing what turned out and what didn't. Not that there weren't disappointments about a certain picture not turning out but there was such an element of surprise sometimes. I think digital cameras have turned us in to compulsive picture takers. Taking pictures until you get exactly the perfect shot. I think we might be missing a lot of other fun moments in our quest for perfection...

Or you could be like me and print everything except the ones that really didn't come out - i.e. blurry...lol! I love the instant gratification of digital. And the easiness of use. And the fact that you don't have to pay for development only to find out none of the pictures came out. And the fact that digital is so much easier to save and to share. So, I'm firmly in the digital corner and I can't say I really miss film at all...lol! BUT, I do remember the anticipation of getting those envelopes (sometimes months later if you forget to get them developed right away) and wondering what you'd see when you opened them!
I'm in the digital corner also. I love the instant gratification. I only print the ones that I scrapbook or the ones I send the family members. We do keep just everything we take though, and I mean EVERYTHING. Sometimes it's a blurry picture of the ceiling that ds took, but dh still keeps them all. He says they all have character. lol I think it's funny to use my MIL's regular 35mm camera and have the kids say, "Let me see, let me see" lol Hard to explain why they can't, especially to my 2 year old.
