What a Compliment...
Today was our monthly religious education program, Generations of Faith. We study different topics each month, within a yearly theme. This year's theme is Sacraments, and the monthly theme was The Sacrament of Marriage.
I truly believe that I have a great marriage. Mark and I do and have worked very hard to get our marriage to the place where it is today and I am proud of our hard work. But I had never really given much though to the fact that we might be an example to others, or mentors of a fashion. Today, during group discussion, someone in the large group mentioned the examples of strong marriages we have in our Parish. They mentioned a much older couple, who has been married a very long time, and then said that we had great examples in our choir as well. Like Mike and Karin, and Mark and Marlene.
Wow, just wow. I don't know this person, but obviously they've noticed us, and our commitment to one another. I am touched and amazed.

You guys (all four of you) have awesome relationships that even I have been able to watch and learn from. I hope that someday I have a marriage that is as awesome as that.
Finally I'm awake enough to comment on this (last night I was just too darn tired to be coherent...lol!).
I really agree with what you said - that I'd never really thought of us as a couple being role models. Certainly, we try to be role models as people and as music ministers, but I'd just never thought of our couplehood that way. So it was an awesome compliment. There don't seem to be a lot of married couples who serve in ministry together and the four of us are very visual in our service, so it's nice to know that we are setting a good example. That was a MOST awesome compliment. :) And now we have to make sure we live up to it...lol! (Does that mean I can't be mean to Mike anymore? ;-))
