I'm So Not Ready for This...
This afternoon I got a phone call from the studio that does Senior Portraits for the teenager's high school. They have moved their studio and if we make an appointment for next week, we have no sitting fee. A savings of $60. I won't get started on the fact that it drives me batty that we're told which studio to go to. When I was in high school, you decided where to go and they sent your picture to your school. Now it's one particular studio. And the prices? Goodness. Let's just say that Senior pictures are almost as much as my car payment. But, I digress. My real point in writing is that I can't believe we're at this point already. I mean, I was aware of the senior year being upon us, but the pictures? It feels so real now. So close. So final...
Next Thursday, while I'm already struggling with the fact that my baby is 17 years old that day, I'll also be watching him get his portraits taken. I just figured, since I'll be crying anyway I might as well kill two birds with one stone!lol!

I suppose their reasoning is that they will all be basically the same that way. But yeah, that's how I remember it - you go where you want. Of course, I waited too late and have one of the dorky shots taken at school in my yearbook for my senior year instead of one of the cute ones I had taken. Oh well.
And also, HOW can he be turning 17? Wasn't he just 10 the other day? Ay carrumba.
Karin,
They don't take them at school at all for seniors. if you want a picture in the yearbook your senior year you go to this studio. Period. Pretty bizarre to me!
My sister had the pictures taken for all 3 of her kids at the studio they said to go to, but when it came down to buy the pictures she didn't. She went to JCPenny's and had them done, several packages over the course of the summer before their senior year, to save lots of money.
Janet,
We could do that, but really, this is a once in a lifetime thing. I still have my senior pictures and remember having them taken. I want it to be special. And since we get photos done at JCPenny all the time, it doesn't seem as special to me. And they don't really have the quality or the backgrounds and look of traditional senior portraits. We'll cough up the money for beautiful portraits since we won't have to do it again until SB is a senior in 5 years!
I hear you Marlene. We have 5 years to recover from the twins before the bear. It almost cost more for the twins senior pictures than it did to remodel our house! Just joking, but......yikes!
I just have to say that I LOVED taking my senior pictures. Though maybe not as much as the twins, they got statues. ;-)
Sounds like they have some kind of "you wash my back, I'll wash yours" agreement with the studio...lol! But yeah, weird that they don't do senior pictures at school.
I think it is definitely a special once in a lifetime thing, so you have to go for it!
