So Sad...

File this under the joy of having a teenager...

The teenager has pretty much decided that he doesn't want to play football. Even though he's been working out with the team since November. Even though he's leaving for camp in a few hours. Even though he's got a starting position.

He really wants to get a job. He spent most of his money on his car and doesn't have much money left, which is cramping his social life I guess. It's impossible to work and be on the football team, at least at his school. They have practice every morning and evening until 7:30 and practice on Saturdays as well.

I am pretty devastated and hoping that he changes his mind after camp, but I don't know...

I know I need to let him do what he needs to do, but this really breaks my heart. I mean really. I guess it's a lesson for me somewhere, but I'm so not enjoying it...

You don't need to let him do what he needs to do! You're the mom! He's the kid! lol! But seriously, it is sad. He'll have plenty of time (rest of his life) to work. This may be the last chance he gets to play football. :(

It's one of those annoying times where you have to let him learn his lesson by living it. There are quite a few things I'm looking back on now thinking I should have done them rather than work. But I had to learn.

Maybe he'll change his mind again after camp. I would really struggle with it, I would push for my kids to finish something they started, simply because they made the commitment in the first place, and let them know they are going to be letting someone down if they don't finish
