Tradition! Tradition!

This post from Karin yesterday got me thinking about movies and Thanksgiving and one of the traditions at our house. Every year, at some point on Thanksgiving day (usually in the evening) our family goes to see a movie. It's usually a new release that we've been waiting for and planning on seeing for months. Sometime over the summer, we'll all see a preview for something that comes out around the holiday and say "That can be our Thanksgiving movie!" This year we're going to see Enchanted, and we're very excited! I think we started this tradition about 13 years ago or so. Other movies we've seen on Thanksgiving include Anastasia, Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, the Santa Clause movies, etc. The size of our group varies every year. My mom always comes with us. My in-laws have gone a few times, Mark's brother and his family went at least once. It's a sweet and fun tradition that the family looks forward to every year.

Do you and your family have a fun Thanksgiving tradition?

When Mike and I were first married, the tradition was to invite whichever of our friends were "orphans" that holiday to Mike's parents house for Thanksgiving dinner.

I guess the only real tradition I have now is that I always make pumpkin pies the night before (I know you don't like pumpkin pies, but we do...lol).

Other than that, we don't really have one because Mike always seems to work the night before and sometimes the night of. Perhaps as LG gets older, something will fall into place. I like your movie tradition, though! That's a fun idea!

Ever since I was a girl I watched the Macy's parade. Now, the kids all climb into bed and we watch it in bed. I love it, of course Pat hates it, because then he has to either get up or cover his head with the pillow!
That is if he's not at work.
