Food for thought...
By the time my youngest child leaves her teenage years, Mark and I will have been parenting teenagers for 18 years. 18 years! 3 down...15 to go...

I don't get a lot of lazy days, so this is appreciated! The kids and I got the house cleaned first thing this morning and then went to the movies after we took the teenager to work. We all stayed up way too late last night, but I got another quilt square done. I realize it is taking me forever, but the one I worked on last night, one square? had 37 pieces of fabric in it! In one square! Geesh! I only have two more kits left, but each of them has two squares in it. I'm hoping to work on one tonight.
So the princess is having difficulty processing that someone kissed her yesterday at school. I guess, in her world, only family or really close friends kiss you. (In my world too!lol!) We were discussing it last night and she was explaining to FE what had happened. FE informed her that wouldn't happen at his school.

I think that one of the things moms worry about a lot is how their child will interact with peers. Will they have friends, will other kids like them, will they get teased or made fun of, will they be shy, will they be too aggressive, etc. Luckily, my older three children have always made friends very easily, even if they were/are shy around adults. I like to think it's really because they are just nice kids. Kind, sensitive, etc.
The prize o' the day goes to the person who can guess how many barbies my girls own. We're talking whole barbies they are allowed to play with, not the still in the box Barbies or myriad barbie heads or other body parts floating around. (Can you believe I found a FOOTLESS barbie when I was cleaning???) The person closest to
There's not been a lot on my schedule, well no more than the usual with 4 kiddos!, but I've been keeping myself busy getting some things done around the house. Since I've started exercising every morning I have a lot of energy and it drives me crazy to sit in this chair for too long!
The worst thing about having the teenager drive my car? He's 6'4" and I'm not! Since Mark and I are about the same height my seat doesn't get adjusted when he drives, but now that the teenager is driving it I'm constantly having to readjust my seat. Dang tall kid...
We got the awaited post card in the mail today. SB was cast in The Snow Queen!!! She's going to be sooo happy!!
So tired. I was really fine this morning. Took the kids to school, the Princess to preschool, went to Mike and Karin's to practice, then Target (where I got to spend $70 on medication!Woohoo!!!), went grocery shopping (which had to be done today as FE is going camping right after school tomorrow with Grandpa), picked up the Princess, came home, unloaded and put away the groceries and ate lunch. I sat on the couch to read my book and fell asleep! And now I am dragging! But, I still have to go get FE and one of my daycare kids, come home and wait for said kid to get picked up, take the teenager to work, take the other daycare kid home, pick up SB from cheer, make dinner and get everything ready to start all over again tomorrow. I need a real nap!
Cell phones are one of life's great dichotomies. They are useful and wonderful tools, but also can be vulgar and rude. How many times have you heard a phone ring in church or at the movies and just rolled your eyes or looked around to see who the offending party was (and prayed desperately it wasn't your phone ringing!)? Well today's bad cell phone etiquette takes the cake, in my humble opinion. I was listening on the radio to the President of the United States addressing the United Nations when I heard it. The unmistakable tinny sound of a ringing cell phone. There are times I forget to turn my phone off or to vibrate, but I'm thinking if I were in the audience of the leader of the free world I might have double checked that!
I was feeling a little blue last night for various reasons. And for about the third time this week I just started crying out of nowhere and couldn't seem to get control over my emotions. The fact that it happened during Mass was unfortunate!
My one year blogiversary! Woohoo! And I did not die. Why do I mention this?
The teenager had his first day of behind the wheel driver's ed today. He's done the class part, now it's just driving. He had to be at school at 5:30 AM! (Have I mentioned how much I love my husband? Because he was the one who got up at 5 and got the teenager to school!) Now the kid has never driven at all (well, he has occasionally held the steering wheel for me for a second, but that's it!) so I was nervous, but excited for him. He called when he got back to school and I asked him how it went. This is what he said to me..."Well, I'm not dead, so I guess it went okay."
5 years ago today my baby was born. She was an unexpected miracle. She has brought such joy to our family. She's a whirling, twirling ball of energy. She is precious and loving and stubborn and tempermental. She's turned much of my hair gray, but she has also given me many of my laugh lines. I can't remember life before she came along. She was a blessing in a time of deep sorrow in this country. A ray of light to hang on to. Hope in human form. Happy Happy 5th Birthday My Princess!!
Woohoo! Even though it's Generations weekend, it's the first one of the year so I'm excited about it!lol!
I honestly worked or was running the entire day yesterday getting stuff done for the party last night. Mark did make me take a break to go have lunch with the kids since he took the day off, but we both were working all day. I don't get it. We had a gathering here last weekend, so the house wasn't a mess... Mark did mow both lawns and do the outside work and we did do all the laundry and I had a cake to bake and decorate, but I can't figure out the time... I honesty spent about 5 minutes on the computer and Mark never sat down at all...Crazy!
