Pity Party

This week needed to end because I was done!
I'm looking forward to a night out with my hubby, a full day and night of me and the kids (football for FE and shopping with the girls as Mark has to work at work tomorrow morning and then go sling beer for Jesus)
and SB's first rehearsal for Snow Queen.

I'm tired of people.

I'm tired of putting my heart into relationships and caring about people who don't return the favor. I've done this all my life. You'd think, after almost 40 years, I'd get a clue. But no. I just keep on ending up heartbroken.

I'm tired of people who treat young children as if they are a nuisance.Who belittle them and are rude to them and scream and yell at them. And I'm tired of people who don't seem to care that there are people in the world who do that.

I'm tired of politics and politicians and economic woes and gas and food prices and lawlessness and so very many evil things in our world. But the problem is that I don't see it ending. No matter who the President is.

I'm hopeful that a weekend with my family will improve my outlook. It's pretty damn bad right now.

I'm thinkin'...

that if I'm sitting and eating cookies and milk while I watch The Biggest Loser, I might be missing the message...

I Hear Music, Music, Music

I'm curious to know if what happens to me happens to other people, but especially curious to know if it happens to non-musicians...

I wake up in the middle of the night hearing music, actually songs going through my head over and over and over again. Sometimes to the point of it keeping me from getting back to sleep. Sometimes it happens when we've been singing something a lot, like during VBS. But most of the time it's a song we've not sung for months, or something I haven't really sung at all. Such was the case last night (or really, this morning). The Psalm response we sang on Sunday is not one we do often. I actually only remember doing it one other time. I don't cantor it or sing verses on it. The verses sort of scare me because I don't know the song well enough. But this morning? The song, in it's entirety, with all lyrics, was running through my head. Non-stop. If you had asked me Sunday night after Mass to even hum the tune of the song I would not have been able to do it, but now, two days later, I can't get rid of it. Crazy! Does this ever happen to you???

Target!

The Target by me has school uniforms and some other children's clothing for 75% off! I was able to purchase all of the Princess' uniforms for NEXT year and some for FE as well. Those of you reading this who have kids in uniform (I know there are at least two of you!lol!) should head over if you get a chance. $2.48 for uniform shorts and $3.48 for skorts!

A Leaf and a Snowflake...Oh My!

For the past four years, SB has danced in a local dance production called The Snow Queen. The production is made up of a professional dance troupe and they do an audition for dancers from local dance schools to fill some minor parts on the weekends. The guidelines for auditioning are that you must be 8-18 years old and have two years of dance experience.

The Princess has been desperate to be in the show, but isn't old enough yet. But, Mark happened to be having a meeting with the director as her company is one of the resident companies at his theater. She asked if the girls were auditioning and he said the SB was, but not The Princess as she was just turning 7 two days before the audition. She thought for a moment and said that there had been 7 year old sin the show in the past, but they had never had someone so newly 7. She asked how much training The Princess had and Mark told her that she was going in to her 4th year. She then invited The Princess to come for an audition with the caution that she would probably not get a part. We talked to the Princess and basically told her that she could audition but that it would be a practice audition as she wasn't old enough yet. She was excited to go until the morning of, when she decided that she didn't want to audition. Since it was just practice! So, not wanting to force her, but wanting to make sure she gave it a go if she could, I put on the DVD from a previous year. And she decided to audition! I was pretty confident that she would not be cast as there were over 50 girls in that age group auditioning. To give some perspective, they use about 50 total kids for each weekend and that includes all of the age groups.

In order to let the kids know if they've been cast, the studio sends a postcard to let them know which part they have or a letter if they didn't get cast. And in today's mail? TWO postcards!!! The Princess was cast as a leaf! And SB has the part I've been wanting her to have since she started auditioning, that of a snowflake. The most beautiful white glittery costumes! I am so excited for both girls and just desperate to pick them up from school so I can give them the postcards!!

Oh.My.Gosh.

I've never been one to be in favor of banning certain games at recess because a kid gets hurt. I mean, kids get hurt. All the time. It's the nature of the beast. But FE? Is making me rethink my opinion. Yesterday and today he got injured enough playing football to warrant a call from the nurse(es). Yesterday he hit his head and was acting funny so I went and picked him up so that I could watch him myself. Today he hit his knee pretty hard. The nurse says there is no swelling or redness, but he can't put any weight on it. He didn't want to leave school and I didn't want to go pick him up AGAIN, so he's back in class. In a wheelchair. And I have to pick up this 80ish pound kid who can't walk on his own from his classroom door. When I can barely walk myself. Quite a pair. Bubba has said he'll go with me to school so that he can carry FE to the car for me because otherwise FE and I might both need a wheelchair!

And All That Jazz

I'm tired and grumpy and in pain.

I totally understand how people with chronic pain issues become addicted to pain killers or become so depressed that they can't function. I wake up crying at night because of this stupid pain in my leg. It is totally ruining the quality of my life. The physical therapy doesn't seem to be working and it's been almost 4 months now that I've had some sort of back or leg pain. I'm so done.

Life is too busy. Honestly, I am run ragged and I don't know what to do about it. I don't feel like I can ask my girls to give up what they love, but I am so tired of running to dance. And tonight we have to start a new Religious Education class for The Princess. One hour at our church. Which is near the dance studio. but the class starts an hour after dance starts and ends two hours before dance is over. So that means three trips to and from the same area tonight. And that's only because I'm going to bring a book and sit and read while The Princess is in her class.

I'm just feeling so worn out and done with everything right now. I am so anxious about the state of our country as well, particularly the economy, that I am a nervous wreck. I'm crying all the time and on edge and not sleeping and just a wreck.

What is Important to me in this election

is the same issue that has always been important to me. Life.

“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.”

All Alone

I don't know what to do with myself...
Mark took SB to dance and the Princess on a date while they wait for SB. Bubba is at work and FE went next door to play. It's very quiet here. And not in a good way.

Must Read

One of my favorite writers (and mom of 8) shares her view of Sarah Palin. Well worth your time.

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

I've been waiting for a package to come. It's taking FOREVER and the UPS site has been no help as it never gave me an estimated date or anything, but I finally saw that it was "Out for Delivery" yesterday. It never came. I checked the UPS site this morning and it told me "Notice Left" at 6:17 last night. Hmmm... I went outside, checked for a notice, nothing. So I came in and called UPS and asked them. Apparently they came by last night at 6:17 and we were not here, so they left a notice in our mailbox that the package was being turned over to the post office and will be delivered by them. Except...at 6:17 last night? My family was sitting at our dining table eating dinner. Our dining table is in clear view of our front window. Which looks out to the street. The street the UPS guy would have had to be on to try to deliver our package or leave a notice. Neither of which he did. And? Someone was here all day and night long. There was not one moment yesterday when at least one person was not home. Liars.

Let's Get Physical!

My doctor has sent me for physical therapy due to my continuing back issue. For those playing at home, it has been 3 months since I hurt my back and while my back doesn't hurt anymore, I have terrible pain in my hip and leg on one side.
Today was my first PT appointment and I am so amazed at how such little exercises can make you feel soooo much better. My PT thinks we're dealing with a bulging disc in my lower back that is aggravating the nerves. I've had back issues for 15 years, but they happen infrequently and go away quickly. He thinks this is the progression.
I was a little leery of this whole thing, but if I feel this good after one session, I am quite hopeful that he can make the pain go away entirely after several more visits!
