Not surprising

Flannel loses some of the softness appeal when you've been sleeping on 600 thread count sheets for almost a year...I was warm enough but my sheets felt scratchy! Hmph!

Flannel Sheets

Yep, it's finally cold enough at night for the flannel sheets to go on the bed. Love it. It's supposed to be below freezing at night by the end of the week! I am so excited.

In other news, I sliced my finger open on Thursday afternoon and it's still numb. It's driving me crazy!

And? 16 year old boys are very difficult to Christmas shop for. Unless you have an endless supply of money! Which I don't.

Life As a Soundtrack MeMe

I don't do memes often, or ever really, but this was too much fun to pass up.

Here’s what you do
1. Open your music library
2. Set settings to “Shuffle”
3. Press play
4. For each entry, type the song that’s playing
5. For new entry, press the next/forward button

Opening credits: Alrightokuhuhamen – Rich Mullins
“Well the Lord said let there be and there was”

Waking up: I Get Down – Audio A
One of my favorite all time songs. Always makes me want to dance. Definitely a wake up song!

First day at school: Promises in the Dark – Pat Benatar
“You desperately search for a way to conquer the fear. No line of attack has been planned to fight back the tears” -Could relate to a first day of school…

Falling in Love: Starting Over-Audio A
“I’m starting over”

Breaking Up: Liberty - Journey
Interesting selection, at least title wise!

Prom: Once Upon a Dream- Dennis DeYoung
Broadway show tune? Not at any prom I ever went to. But it is so soothing.

Life’s Okay: The Everlasting-Third Day
“For You are the Lord and You are God above. Your love goes on and on”- This does tell me that life is okay.

Mental Breakdown: I’m Alive – Audio A
“Have you ever longed to take a walk on top of a cloud”-teehee

Driving: Nothing Compares to You-Third Day
Pretty song, and could be a good driving song…

Flashback: All Who Are Thirsty-Kutless
Not very flashbacky to me, but AWESOME song!

Getting back together: Sea of Faces- Kutless
“Sometimes my life it feels so trivial immersed in the greatness of space, Yet somehow you still find the time for me. It's then You show me Your love”- not exactly as intended, but it sort of works!lol!

Wedding: Where Do I Go - Amy Grant
Oh.my.gosh. Same song for me and Karin for wedding? How bizarre is that???

Birth of child: He Reigns - The Newsboys
Works for me! He’s given me four perfect gifts! “A love song born of a grateful choir!”

Final battle: Rest Easy – Audio A
“One more mile 'til I lay rest I have put myself through this rigid test”

Funeral song: The Greatest Discovery-Elton John
Another of my all time favorite songs, it always makes me cry which would be the only thing linking it to a funeral. (Mark says "Unless you believe in reincarnation!"lol!)

EndCredits: Losing Control-Audio A
“This is what it feels like To reach the end”-seems appropriate to me!lol!

Leave me a comment if you participate so I can see your list as well!

So, my beloved Wildcats get beat again by ASU. They've knocked out our QB two years in a row and beat us both times. Well, there's always next year. And Always BASKETBALL to which I say...ASWHO???

Worn Out!

The teenager had to work at 4:30 am and as is our usual custom, Mark and I were planning to get out and shop. I actually really love to shop on Black Friday because, unless you're at an electronics store, everyone is in such a good mood! I go tons of shopping done. Went to The Disney Store, Aeropostale, Charlotte Russe, Joann's, Target, Ulta, and Mervyn's. Ulta was the worst. The lines were incredibly slow. I never shop there, but they had something that SB wanted so I went. Never again!

I had some other errands to run today as well and am now off to get meds for my SIL who got to come home today! Woohoo!!!! I know she's glad to be home and we're so thankful she's doing better!

Thankful

I am truly blessed and thankful for so many things. I have an amazing husband, beautiful and brilliant children, a loving mother, a brother who makes me laugh like no one else can, a mother and father-in-law who have loved me even when I was a rotten teenager and still were happy that I married their son, a precious goddaughter, the wonderful friendship of her mama, and many more people and things too numerous to count.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Prayers Please

for my sister-in-law. She's in the hospital tonight and will be for at least part of tomorrow as well. Not a fun way to spend Thanksgiving.

Short Week!

Well, SB continued our illustrious family tradition at the Turkey Trot on Friday, coming in 4th! She was happy and had a great time!

We had the best weekend. Friday night fun with my friends and the very loud children, Saturday just hanging out and watching my Wildcats beat a top 25 team for the third week in a row! Mark and I had our date night Saturday night. We went to dinner and a movie and a stop at Bath and Body works for some Wickedly Hot Chocolate products. Oh. my. gosh. I smell like a candy bar! Great stuff! Yesterday we played outside with the kiddos and watched some football and went to church and stuff. Very relaxing, lots of fun. Lovely.

This week is going to be wonderful as well. We have normal Monday and Tuesday stuff, but the kids get out early on Wednesday and then we're going to a huge (80-100 people) party at a friends house. They raise turkeys and have a huge turkey butcher party on the day before Thanksgiving. We're not taking a turkey, but the kids are really excited for the party. This family has 4 kids and lots of land so we have a great time out there.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Good Day!

Yesterday was a great day. After walking with my friend, I ran home to pick up the cameras and headed to The Princess' school for her Thanksgiving program. She sang her little heart out and it was adorable! We didn't stay for lunch, but rushed over to FE's school for the annual Turkey Trot. The kids make banners in their classrooms and then have a banner parade around the big field. After that, they are separated by grade and gender and then they race. FE came in 3rd place out of the 2nd grade boys. He was soooo excited. So was I. 1st-3rd places get a medal and he was so proud of that. When the teenager was in 7th grade he came in 2nd place, but other than that? Every single year, every single one of my kids comes in 4th. It's become a running joke! SB runs today and I told her she better aim for 4th since FE's already ruined our tradition!

After FE was done running we took him out of school and went to lunch with my mom who was also there for the race. It was a great afternoon.

Today did not start out so well as my battery was dead this morning. Mark stayed home and got things taken care of while I took the kiddos to school. Now I'm trying to get the house cleaned so Karin and Rochelle and LG can come over and scrapbook tonight. I only have a couple of hours until SB runs though, so I'm off.

Have a great weekend!!

Enough Already!!!

So last night the Teenager started with our friendly little stomach bug, and in the middle of the night Mark started. Mark is still sleeping, he was up a lot last night. The teenager is feeling a bit better. he's eating some eggs right now. I can't remember the last time the teenager was that sick. I think it must have been when he was not yet a teenager. At least this should be the last of it. We've all been sick now so this bug can GO AWAY!!!

I've been working all week on getting my house deep cleaned for Thanksgiving since I'll be hosting this year. It's been a couple of years since we've had Thanksgiving here and I'm really looking forward to it. I like afternoon Thanksgiving dinner, like around 2 or 3. I like Thanksgiving football on TV and in the backyard. Our family tradition is to go see a Christmas movie in the evening, so this year we're planning on The Santa Clause 3. Friday morning we'll be up early, hoping to find an MP3 player pretty cheap somewhere, and then Mark will work on our Christmas lights until it's too dark to see and we'll go out to dinner with my mom. Saturday my mom will come over and she and the kids and I will gorge on leftovers while we watch the local rival college football game. Mark and his dad will be going to the game. I love Thanksgiving weekend, especially when we have Thanksgiving dinner here. I'm really looking forward to it!

I've also worked on the quilt a bit. I've got part of the top put together. If Mark moves to the couch today I may get some more done, but I can't sew while he's sleeping since the machine is in our room. And the Princess and I have been working on Thanksgiving crafts. Today? Napkin rings!

And? I'm really craving carrot cake! Why? who knows. But, do you have a good recipe???

10? 10. 10!!!!

So last night when getting ready for church I pulled out this shirt I had bought in July. I bought it without trying it on, but in my usual size. Unfortunately, it is a very fitted shirt and did not fit at all. Since I bought it on clearance, I just stuck it in my closet and hoped for the day it would fit. Every once in a while, over the last 4 months, I've pulled it out and tried it on and still hadn't felt comfortable to wear it. Until last night. I tried it on and it fit. beautifully!
Then today, as I'm walking around pulling up my pants every 5 minutes (my favorite pants, mind you!) I decided I needed to take my measurements. I pulled out my notebook and measuring tape and measured and compared to the last time I measured, which was September 25th. It appears that in the last 6 weeks I've lost 10!!! inches. No wonder my shirt finally fits and my pants are falling down! Woohoo!!!

Ugh!

What a miserable weekend!
The down slide started Thursday morning when SB woke up vomiting. When I took FE to school, the nurse told me that the stomach flu had been going around 6th grade. The Princess and I started feeling quite ill on Thursday afternoon, enough so that I told my employers that they would need to make alternate arrangements for Friday. Friday morning we all woke up feeling great! The kids and I went to lunch and a movie and then we all went to dinner with Mark when he got home from work.
It was all downhill from there. Around 2 AM I was laying in bed with the worst stomach ache when SB ran in and said that the Princess was throwing up in bed. That started an all night alternate sickness with the Princess and I. I moved to the girls room and SB moved into my room. Mark was up most of the night as well, changing sheets, doing laundry and helping clean up. FE started around 4 AM. The three of us were completely out of it all day yesterday. I thought we would never feel better. FE slept almost all day into the night. The princess and I were on the couch until 9ish last night and then went to bed and slept until 7:30 AM. I've not slept that long in oh...16 years or so!lol! We're feeling some better today. We're still not eating much, but at least we're able to move around. I'm sure this will help my weigh in tomorrow!

The Queen of Spain

Today is "Q" day at the Princess' school. She had to bring something that started with Q for show and share. We were talking and brainstorming things to bring when FE pipes in. "You could bring the Queen of Spain." The Princess immediately replies "We don't have time to get to Spain to pick her up before my school starts FE." Now that's a practical girl for ya!

Did YOU vote?

I did.

I also overheard someone this morning on the playground talking about how "stupid" most of the Arizona voters were. I'm guessing he didn't like the way some of the propositions went? Funny, because I had been thinking the exact opposite this morning. I am pretty proud of our state for doing it's homework and realizing what the propositions REALLY said instead of what some radical groups might lead you to believe. BRAVO Arizona voters!

So Hungry!

I have been doing so well this week with my food intake. Back to following my weight watchers plan. Monday was a struggle to get all my food in. Yesterday was great. I even fit a big Subway chocolate chip cookie into my plan after my sub. But around midnight last night my stomach started growling like crazy and it hasn't stopped. Even through breakfast, a snack, and lunch. It's driving me CRAZY! I don't know why I'm so hungry! I'm eating plenty of healthy, whole foods. Lots of fruits and veggies and protein. So what's up??? Argh!

Busy Busy

And sick as well. Argh! I am feeling slightly better than yesterday, but my throat is a mess. I did manage to fake my way through singing for Generations yesterday, but wasn't up to going to Mass.

The teenager has a new job! His last day at his old job was Friday and his first day on the new job was Sunday. More money, better hours, discounts on fun stuff. Should be fun for him!

My husband and kiddos rock. I had not had the time or felt up to getting the laundry done over the weekend. I made sure the kiddos had clothes for today and I was planning to do the laundry today. Well, no need. The kiddos sorted all the laundry and Mark did it all last night. Around 10 loads. Woohoo!!

And, in some really happy news for me? Since July, I've lost 15.5 pounds! It's been slow going, but in truth I haven't tried too hard. I'm planning to exercise this week and be much better about my food intake, so we'll see how things go!

Have a great week!
