He surely did not inherit this from me!

Metabolism that is.

For dinner last night I made yummy mini meatloaves. They have lots of cheese in them and a sweet bbq sauce on top. My kids LOVE them, as do Mark and I and, believe me, I am NOT a meatloaf kind of girl!
I used a little over 2 pounds of ground beef because I wanted to have enough to use for lunch today and the teenager wasn't home for dinner so i thought I would be safe. WRONG! The 2 pounds of meat made 10 mini loaves, so a little over 3 ounces each. One was enough for me, although they are so good that Mark and I split another one. So, got that? The adults each ate about 4.5 ounces of meat. We also had mashed potatoes and broccoli and pineapple. FE ate ll of that stuff as well, but he ate 4, yes 4!, of the meat loaves. 4! Over 12 ounces of meat in his 8 year old body. And, about an hour later? He ate 2 scoops of ice cream! And this kid is not, by any stretch of the imagination, overweight. He is tall, but thin. I cannot begin to imagine where he put all of that food. My fear is that he's getting ready to get even taller because this morning, after his monster feast last night? He's sound asleep. And he's my early rise, usually up at 6 no matter what, so this is highly unusual. I don't know how we'll afford to feed him as a teenager if this is how he eats at 8!!!

In other news, it's GIRL'S NIGHT! Some friends and I are heading out for dinner and a movie tonight and I'm so excited! I love being with my family, but it's fun to not have to be the mommy sometimes as well!

I'm Back!!

Did ya miss me?? I can't guarantee any regular posting, but we'll see. It's summer time and I have things to do!
We have dance recital coming up in a few weeks, swim lessons, camp for the teenager (in another state no less!) birthdays, summer movies and dates, myriad other things I can't remember right now and relaxing!! 11 weeks of much less driving, much more reading! 11 blissful weeks. I love summer, can you tell???

We had a glorious long weekend with only a minor incident or two. One involved the teenager needing to get picked up at 5 am! on Saturday morning. That was not planned, but was for the best. Teenagers, argh! And not my own this time!
The Princess got a major hair cut! She has bangs for the first time in her life. No girls in this house have had bangs in about 6 years. But she looks CUTE!! Picture on my photo blog in the side bar.
And, last but not least, FE had an emergency room trip. This makes number 3 for him in his 8 short years. This one was entirely unnecessary! He was at a public pool/waterpark with his best friend and parents. when he came down one of the slides he banged his head. He got out of the pool, by himself, crying and asked the life guard for an ice pack. What did they do??? Cleared the entire water area, threw the kid on a back board and called 911!!! The paramedics came and since he was there without parents (but with competent adults!!!) they put him on another back board and took him to the ER. We got the call when the paramedics had him strapped down. My poor sweet friend was absolutely beside herself. she rode in the ambulance with FE to the ER where he spent a grand total of 15 minutes because his head didn't even hurt anymore and they couldn't find a bump! The poor kid was arguing with the paramedics and the life guards and kept telling them, and this is an exact quote "I just need an ice pack. It's that simple!!!" So, that was our trauma for the weekend. OVERreaction anyone??!!!

I'm back to my book now! Have a lovely day!
